Yew with Walnut Ties 8.25" W x 3" H

Some tree trunks grow in an irregular manner. When sliced cross-wise and turned one can create a flower. In this “Day Lily” like bowl, Walnut ties were used to bind the cracks while it spun on the lathe. Bark edges the creamy sapwood that meets orange heartwood as one follows the grain to the pith of the tree.
