This bowls slightly contoured sides are illustrated with scenes taken from the earth above; only painted with burl and bark. Marsh-like waterways are almost seen and are accentuated by light sapwood and the darker heartwood of each burl point. The bowls bottom presents the flare of the burl delivered by a “side-grain“ point of view. Then, rippling waves, across grain, alerts us to the weight of the tree as branches grew.
